Job Title: Principal Engineer Nuclear Safety Case

BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer Nuclear Safety Case to join our team. As a key member of our Site Safety team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of nuclear safety cases for our submarine programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of nuclear safety cases for our submarine programmes
  • Conduct deterministic nuclear safety assessments for build and commission of Dreadnought and future class submarines
  • Author nuclear safety cases, including results of deterministic and probabilistic analyses of the submarine build and commission activities
  • Perform ALARP assessments of new and legacy facilities and equipment
  • Define, agree, and implement safety case requirements
  • Manage internal and external interfaces, such as Engineering Authorities, Human Factors, regulatory bodies, and MOD
Requirements:
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline (engineering or physical sciences)
  • Previous experience in safety analysis and safety case production for high-hazard industries
Desirable:
  • Chartered engineer (or actively working toward this)
  • Previous experience working for a nuclear site and/or on the submarine programme
  • Relevant nuclear and/or safety degree programmes at universities such as Heriot-Watt, Aberdeen, Cranfield, Strathclyde, Manchester, Liverpool, and Birmingham
