Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Software Developer with a passion for scientific research and development to join our team supporting the Air Force Research Lab. In this role, you will play a key part in advancing space weather science modeling and implementing cutting-edge R2O practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, and maintain sophisticated space weather science applications.
  • Conduct research and development activities to enhance existing models and algorithms.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to translate scientific concepts into practical software solutions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of R2O workflows and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of proven experience in software engineering development.
  • Strong understanding of AGILE software development methodologies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, Fortran, C++, Python, and expertise in Linux environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Experience with cloud-native applications and DevSecOps practices.
  • Ability to analyze and reverse-engineer complex scientific codebases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in web programming technologies.
  • Knowledge of system-level testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with information assurance practices and security protocols.
  • Understanding of R2O methodology and AWSGovCloud technology.

Education

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master's degree is highly preferred.
