About the Role

Hays Senior Finance is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Controller to join their finance leadership team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing all financial reporting elements for EMEA entities and branches, as well as day-to-day accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Leadership
    • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals to foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Oversee financial accounting for European subsidiaries, ensuring consistent accounting practices and compliance with local standards.
  • Financial Operations
    • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information, meeting internal and external reporting deadlines.
    • Coordinate with the Global Tax function for corporate tax reporting.
  • Internal Controls
    • Establish and maintain robust internal control policies to prevent fraud and optimize efficiency.
    • Monitor and improve internal control systems.
  • Payroll Operations
    • Oversee European payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with local regulations.
    • Manage tax withholdings and filings.
  • Process Improvement
    • Drive initiatives to automate and optimize accounting operations, enhancing the efficiency of monthly/quarterly close cycles.
    • Improve accuracy through streamlined processes.
Requirements
  • ACA, ACCA, or CA (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Experience with managing European accounting operations, including month and year-end closes.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts and filings.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading finance teams, implementing internal controls, and driving process improvements.
  • Demonstrated success in leading change management.
  • Progressive substantive experience in finance and accounting leadership roles.
