Assystem, a leading international company accelerating the energy transition, is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Chief Engineer to spearhead our engineering, safety case, and requirements teams. This is a pivotal role in a major Defence infrastructure programme, requiring a strong leader to drive engineering and safety case delivery, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Provide strategic direction and inspire engineering, safety case, and requirements teams to deliver high-quality results.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables meet regulatory standards, maintaining the highest level of quality and safety.
- Integration: Oversee the delivery of system requirements, engineering, and safety case activities for floating dock and shoreside infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and coordination.
- Strategy Development: Create and secure endorsement for engineering and safety case strategies, processes, and tools, driving innovation and efficiency.
- Baseline Establishment: Collaborate with the Design Authority to set the nuclear baseline and ensure roles are suitably qualified and experienced.
- Collaboration: Ensure robust representation in commercial delivery arrangements with Tranche and Commercial leads, fostering strong relationships and effective communication.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary interface with the Design Authority, Site Operations, and Regulators, managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring effective communication.
- Team Leadership: Foster a cohesive and integrated approach within multi-disciplined teams, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Programme Safety Engineering Management Plan, maintaining the highest level of safety and compliance.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Regulatory Experience: Familiarity with dealing with regulators in high-consequence environments, ideally nuclear.
- Proven Leadership: Successful recent experience leading multi-disciplined teams in producing engineering designs, justifications, and safety cases for major infrastructure or complex engineering programmes.
- Diverse Experience: Extensive senior engineering leadership experience across multiple major infrastructure programmes or complex multi-disciplined engineering projects, preferably in regulated environments.
- Professional Credentials: Chartered Engineer with full membership in a recognized engineering institution.
- Line Management: Experience managing engineering staff at the chief engineer level.
- Desirable Experience: Background in marine structures delivery or naval architecture is a plus.
