About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Group Leader to join our team at UKAEA Special Techniques Group. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of fusion energy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Electrical Design Delivery: Oversee the electrical design delivery for large, complex robotics projects, ensuring high-quality output and compliance with relevant standards and directives.
  • Develop Standardized Approaches: Collaborate with project engineers to develop standardized approaches to electrical design, delivering robust and verified circuits for enhanced project efficiency.
  • Evaluate Electrical CAD Designs: Conduct peer reviews of electrical CAD designs to ensure compliance with relevant standards and directives, and provide documentation to support compliance.
  • Authorize Project Milestones: Authorize major project milestones and reports, while collaborating with UKAEA departments to establish global electrical processes for organizational growth.
  • Promote a Strong Safety Culture: Foster a culture of safety within the Electrical Systems Design Group, ensuring that all team members adhere to best practices and industry standards.
  • Manage Contract Engagements: Oversee contract engagements for low/medium value engineering projects, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Develop Staff: Provide guidance and support to staff within the Electrical Systems Design Group, helping them to develop their skills and advance their careers.
Requirements
  • Extensive Experience: Possess extensive experience in designing and managing electrical systems for machinery, industrial, rail, or nuclear industries.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrate a proven ability to deliver complex engineering projects from requirements to system commissioning.
  • Effective Problem-Solving: Possess effective problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve technical conflicts while working with project stakeholders.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrate the ability to manage people and develop skills to support the growth of the department and organization.
