Forbes Solicitors is seeking a qualified Solicitor to become a part of our Public Family Team. This is a full-time position with a commitment of 36.25 hours per week, operating Monday to Friday.

This role presents an excellent chance for a Family Law Solicitor to leverage their expertise within a supportive and professional environment. While the position demands a high level of service and responsiveness typical of a law firm, it also promotes a healthy work-life balance and is tailored to the regional context.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be tasked with achieving favorable outcomes through:
- Managing a diverse caseload that includes Public Law Family issues, PLO, and care proceedings;
- Providing comprehensive written and verbal legal counsel;
- Engaging with clients, opposing parties, Courts/Tribunals, and other stakeholders to advance cases;
- Representing clients in Court;
- Assisting fellow Family advisors with their cases and contributing to departmental strategies and objectives;
- Overseeing, mentoring, and training Paralegals to support their professional growth and the achievement of business goals;
- Ensuring adherence to internal and external compliance standards, including quality control and regulatory principles;
- Monitoring and reporting on personal financial performance to ensure profitable service delivery;
- Participating in internal initiatives for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing;
- Collaborating with other departments on joint cases and projects;
- Contributing to the formulation of the departmental business plan;
- Fostering positive relationships with existing and potential clients to enhance the firm's reputation and drive growth;
- Engaging in business development activities, including training sessions, publications, and submissions to legal directories.

We will evaluate applicants based on their demonstrated knowledge, experience, and skills, including:
- Qualification as a Solicitor/Legal Executive (or equivalent), ideally with a minimum of 2 years PQE;
- Essential experience in handling Childcare matters and court proceedings;
- Prior involvement in a childcare family department is crucial;
- Accreditation as a Children Panel Member is preferred;
- Proficiency in IT applications (Outlook, Word, case management systems, etc.);
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team;
- Strong client care skills, providing professional legal advice in line with regulatory standards;
- Proven track record of managing a caseload and meeting deadlines while achieving financial targets;
- Excellent writing and drafting capabilities, along with strong communication skills;
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities;
- Interest in long-term career development within the department;
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal;
- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle for travel within the region (reasonable adjustments will be considered for candidates with disabilities).
