Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen. The successful candidate will provide front-line electrical engineering support to our operations site-based team and deliver engineering modifications and technical discipline input to our Projects team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical System Improvements
    • Specify, scope, and execute improvements to electrical systems to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Asset Electrical Engineering Focal Point
    • Act as the asset electrical engineering focal point for site projects, including studies, to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Electrical Single Point of Accountability (SPA)
    • Act as the Electrical SPA for long-term Asset strategy, providing technical guidance and oversight to ensure effective implementation.
  • Discipline Improvements
    • Lead discipline improvements in plant reliability, equipment strategy, defect elimination, and equipment rationalization to optimize asset performance.
  • Electrical Spares Strategy
    • Define and own the asset's electrical spares strategy to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance.
  • Plant Reliability and Safety
    • Lead improvements in plant reliability, root cause analysis, defect elimination, and continuous improvement to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Safety Reviews and Risk Assessments
    • Lead or contribute to safety reviews, risk assessments, and investigations as the electrical engineering focal point to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Maintenance Strategies
    • Act as custodian of asset maintenance strategies for electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Technical Support
    • Support the maintenance team with the implementation of planned maintenance routines and provide technical guidance on equipment breakdowns.
  • Documentation and Compliance
    • Act as custodian of key electrical engineering documentation, including Power System Study, RFI Ignition Study, Lightning Risk Assessment, High Energy Electrical Equipment Risk Assessment, and Ex Inspection.
  • Management of Change (MOC) Proposals
    • Responsible Engineer for Asset Electrical MOC proposals, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Incident Management
    • Participate in the incident management team as required to ensure effective response and resolution of electrical-related incidents.
  • Travel and Technical Support
    • Travel to Offshore Platforms or remote onshore sites to provide technical support and guidance to ensure effective implementation of electrical engineering solutions.
  • Asset Self-Audit Program
    • Participate in the Asset self-audit program to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Requirements

The successful candidate will hold a Degree in Electrical Engineering and be a Chartered Engineer or actively working to achieve chartered status. They will have 10+ years' experience in the Oil & Gas, Refining, or Chemical Industries, with knowledge and experience of electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres and relevant legislation such as ATEX and DSEAR. They will also have comprehensive understanding and applied knowledge of relevant UK Regulatory (Safety Case, COMAH…) and industry standards.
