About the Role

The LGC Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Programme Manager to lead our Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice, guidance, and monitoring to our domestic and global health programmes, infrastructure, schools, and units on the development and delivery of their strategic plans for public/community involvement and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to the PPIE team, ensuring the successful delivery of our PPIE strategy and objectives.
  • Develop and implement effective plans to engage with people and communities, build stakeholder relationships, and drive the sharing of PPIE knowledge and expertise.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the LGC Group and beyond to coordinate collaborative approaches to sharing resources, learning, and effective practice.
  • Lead on the development, delivery, monitoring, review, and reporting of our annual involvement and engagement plan, ensuring innovation, efficiency, and maximum impact.
  • Establish and maintain effective external relationships and networks with key individuals and national/international organizations to promote and support our PPI and engagement activities.
  • Lead on people management, including workforce planning, mentoring, coaching, line management, and staff appraisal to ensure the successful and efficient delivery of the programme.
  • Develop and maintain awareness and understanding of the changing environment, promoting continuous improvement of, and innovation in PPIE, and keeping up-to-date on PPI in research literature and practice.

Requirements

  • Degree in humanities, arts, and social sciences or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of patient and public involvement in the community or healthcare sector and/or research.
  • Experience in planning, delivery, monitoring, review, and reporting strategies.
  • Experience of working with the public, building stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective planning/organizational skills.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent IT skills, including the use of Google Apps.
  • Experience of successfully managing and developing staff.
