Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality digital copies of clinical documents for retention purposes. This involves scanning external correspondence received from hospitals and other healthcare organizations, relating to patients' healthcare and treatment. The documents must be accurately scanned onto patients' medical records, with hard copies subsequently destroyed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Open and prioritize post received from hospitals and other healthcare providers in accordance with practice guidelines for scanning.
  • Follow established guidelines and procedures for receiving and scanning patient documents.
  • Produce accurate scanned documents following verbal and written instructions.
  • Code documents using appropriate Read codes and according to practice procedures, determining the appropriate process to apply to each document workflow.
  • Ensure the operation of scanning equipment is correct, including cleaning and calibration of scanners and associated equipment.
  • Ensure adequate stock control of consumables to meet requirements.
  • Check scanned documents for quality and accuracy during scanning.
  • Process any required corrections to scanned documents.
  • Process documents for destruction according to practice policy.
  • Work in accordance with written protocols.
  • Perform other tasks allocated by managers.

Person SpecificationQualifications
  • GCSE grade C or above in English Language.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Secretarial qualification.
  • Administrator qualification.
Experience
  • Experience of working on your own and within a team.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience in administration.
  • Previous experience in typing.
  • Experience of medical terminology.
  • Experience working in a GP surgery.
