About the Role

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the Public Appointments Team. As the Head of Public Appointments and Governance, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of public appointments across the department's 42 public bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-lead the Public Appointments Team, working closely with Ministers, Cabinet Office, and senior leaders to ensure a diverse range of talented individuals are appointed to public bodies.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with stakeholders, both within the department and externally, to resolve emerging issues and maintain the department's high standing reputation.
  • Manage and deliver the department's public appointments strategy, prioritizing diversity, candidate care, and compliance with the Governance Code.
  • Lead the team to deliver agreed priorities and objectives, ensuring they are supported in their work and development.
