Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a role model for excellence in palliative care, helping staff acquire essential skills and knowledge to foster their personal and professional growth.
  • Maintain professional registration and adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Plan, organise, deliver, and evaluate education and training programs for multi-professional and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Conduct clinical education and work-based training programs focused on quality patient care, such as a 3-day Palliative Care Course.
  • Provide training to clinical staff and proactively identify ongoing educational needs.
  • Manage the LMS system and maintain clinical training records.
  • Collaborate with others to develop staff clinical competencies.
  • Stay updated on local, regional, and national policies and priorities.
  • Support students during clinical placements.
  • Build and maintain effective communication networks within Greater Manchester (GM) to represent the Education and Development team at various internal and external meetings.
Requirements:
  • The successful candidate will be able to:
  • Deliver training to both internal and external groups of varying sizes.
  • Interpret and apply national and local policy drivers within the political context.
  • Manage time effectively to balance clinical education with administrative duties.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, using their initiative.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Outlook, Teams).
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or an Allied Health Professional with current professional registration.
  • Relevant professional degree (or equivalent) with evidence of continuing professional development in palliative care.
  • Experience in teaching both practical and theoretical concepts to clinical and non-clinical staff in various settings.
  • Thorough understanding of end-of-life care, NICE supportive and palliative care guidance, and other relevant service frameworks.
  • Ability to travel independently as cross-site and local travel will be necessary.
