About the Role

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Open Access Manager to join our team. As an Open Access Manager, you will play a key role in shaping our open access strategy and working with teams across the business to support, enable, and expand our open access publishing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide internal expertise on open access and support training across Bloomsbury's academic divisions.
  • Collaborate with academic editorial teams to identify open access commissioning opportunities and develop strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of Bloomsbury Open Collections, our collaborative open access funding model.
  • Develop and maintain internal open access guidelines and workflow documents.
  • Provide input into systems and workflow changes to improve open access processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with external developments in open access and communicate these to Bloomsbury staff.
  • Conduct research and analysis in support of open access projects.
  • Compile regular reports on open access activity.
Requirements
  • Experience in academic book publishing or open access roles at an academic publisher or library.
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills.
  • Resourceful and proactive in dealing with problems and queries.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of open access principles.
