Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care to adult inmates in a correctional setting. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to adult inmates, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Document all pertinent information into the patient's health record, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to standards of practice.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless care and communication.
  • Delegate tasks and workload as necessary, working hours, days, and locations as assigned.
  • Provide coverage as needed to meet institutional needs, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Stay up-to-date with evidence-based nursing practices and promote continued competence through education and certification.

Requirements

  • Valid, unrestricted Virginia RN license (or NCLEX-RN Exam scheduled at time of application for recent graduates).
  • Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers, with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Experience in a correctional setting (desired).
