About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HVDC Operations Engineer to join our team at SSE Transmission. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and secure transmission of electricity across our network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of our HVDC Caithness Moray Shetland (CMS) multi-terminal network and other FACTS assets.
  • Work closely with the HVDC Operations Manager and other stakeholders to plan and execute maintenance activities, regular inspections, and fault response/repair of HVDC/FACTS assets.
  • Assist with the creation, maintenance, and execution of critical asset repair plans, obsolescence plans, and spares holding strategies.
  • Manage and provide technical support for Cyber Security maintenance works on the existing CMS HVDC multi-terminal network and other FACTS assets.
  • Support the engineering design, installation, and commissioning of upgrade and innovation projects for the CMS HVDC multi-terminal network and other FACTS assets.
Requirements
  • Degree-qualified or time-served with relevant experience in a relevant engineering area.
  • Strong technical understanding of the Distribution and/or Transmission business and relevant interfaces.
  • Management experience in delivering successful operations and maintenance within a similar role/environment.
  • Experience and understanding of managing contractors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
