Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Buying to lead our buying team and execute comprehensive buying strategies for all product categories, aligning with our sustainability commitments and market trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Buying Team: Lead a team of buyers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Sustainability Focus: Work closely with the CEO and team on the sustainability strategy and drive it as a key priority through the buying, design, and quality functions.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct regular market research and competitor analysis to stay ahead of industry trends and identify potential gaps or opportunities.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers across varied regions, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring the highest quality products.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as quality control, merchandising, marketing, and operations to ensure seamless coordination and alignment on critical path.
  • Performance Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor and analyze sales performance, inventory levels, and customer feedback to optimize product assortment and drive sales growth.
  • Industry Development and Networking: Stay up to date with industry developments, attend trade shows, and network with industry professionals to gain insights and explore new partnerships.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying process efficiencies and implementing best practices within the buying function.
Requirements
  • Experience: Around 15+ years of experience in Womenswear Buying working for fast-growing brands across multiple departments.
  • Leadership and Management: Experience managing large and fast-paced buying teams in high-growth womenswear retail businesses.
  • Product Knowledge and Passion: A strong eye for product and a passion for responsible product.
  • Negotiation and Communication Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skillsets.
  • Leadership Competencies: Strong leadership competencies.
