Strategic Buying Director

At Boden, we are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Buying Director to lead our divisional product strategy and drive sales and profit growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Awareness
- Develop and drive divisional product strategies to enhance ranges and drive sales and profit.
- Understand our brand and our customer in all our trading regions.
- Stay ahead of economic and social trends to anticipate and mitigate their impact on the business.
- Lead brand handwriting in line with brand strategy to deliver beautiful, elevated styles, outfits, and ranges.
- Ensure Boden remains relevant and competitive in the retail landscape.
Range Building
- Set innovative product strategy aligned with Creative vision to deliver sales growth across all markets.
- Capitalize on opportunities with speed and agility.
- Be the expert on our customer and what she wants, training and coaching teams to ensure in-depth knowledge of our target customer and her lifestyle is second nature.
- Drive collaborative working across Design, Merchandising, Technical & Sourcing counterparts to ensure best range mix, sourcing approach & margin expectations are delivered.
Trading
- Lead team to dynamically trade departments, driving and capitalizing on opportunities to grow sales and profits strategically.
- Chase and mitigate risk where required, with speed and efficiency.
- Take the lead with our Head of and Merchandising Director in trade sign-off meetings with Senior Director and Chief Commercial Officer.
- Ensure all trade communication to our founder and wider business is clear, timely, accurate, and strategic.
- Lead Buying team to partner with Marketing to ensure key messages are communicated to the customer across the correct channel.
- Support trade actions in response to customer insight.
Supply Base
- Lead the team to develop the right supplier strategy, critical path, and target margin to deliver profit, flexibility, quality, and design.
- Stay aware of global supply opportunities and global economic issues.
- Think strategically in the context of the global economy and landscape with a long-term view in mind to set business up for future growth and margin gain.
Team Leadership
- Drive team morale, creating a dynamic, motivated, and efficient team.
Requirements:
- Excellent product & customer knowledge with a commercial mindset.
- Strong successful experience within Buying & managing teams.
- 10 years' experience as Senior Manager.
- Proven success in leadership at Director level.
