We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a Year 4 student with severe learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide tailored support to the student, both academically and emotionally, to ensure they access the curriculum and develop key skills.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalized learning plans and strategies.
- Adapt teaching materials and resources to suit the student's individual learning needs and abilities.
- Assist with personal care tasks, as required, to ensure the student's comfort and well-being throughout the school day.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where the student feels supported, valued, and encouraged to participate.
- Monitor the student's progress and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
- Work closely with external professionals, such as speech and language therapists or educational psychologists, to implement recommended interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of the student's achievements, progress, and any significant developments.
- Previous experience working with children with severe learning difficulties, preferably within a school setting.
- Understanding of various learning styles and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Flexibility and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs (SEN) support are desirable but not essential.
