Paediatric Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine Specialist to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
About the RoleThis is a unique opportunity to work in a busy tertiary paediatric referral centre, providing a high-quality elective and emergency anaesthetic service. The successful candidate will have extensive training opportunities in paediatric anaesthesia and pain medicine, with a focus on clinical governance, teaching, and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a high-quality elective and emergency anaesthetic service as requested.
- Engage in clinical governance activities, including critical incident reporting, morbidity and mortality meetings, audit, and mandatory training.
- Actively engage in the teaching and training of other members of the anaesthetic department and hospital staff.
- Engage with quality improvement activity.
- Perform additional management and administrative tasks as deemed appropriate to the position.

Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will have:
- Primary medical qualification - MBBS or equivalent.
- Full GMC registration (obtained by designated start date).
- FRCA (or equivalent level of knowledge).
- At least 3 years' higher specialist training in anaesthesia and within 2 years of completing or up to 2 years post completing a recognised training scheme.
- Experience of teaching and presenting.
- Experience of audit/quality improvement activities.
- Understanding of principles of clinical governance.
We particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience in related paediatric specialties, published research in peer-reviewed journals, and clinical experience in related paediatric specialties.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to organise and prioritise their workload, and the ability to work under pressure in a multi-disciplinary environment.
