The Leveraged Finance Underwriting Team within Institutional Credit Management is seeking a driven and highly motivated individual to join the team.

The team sits within the First Line of Defence, working closely with Capital Markets, Banking, and Risk to drive a best-in-class Leveraged Lending In-Business Credit organization.

This role offers the chance to work on high-profile transactions in the UK, Europe, and MEA leveraged finance market and challenge yourself in a high-profile team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leveraged Finance transaction underwriting and credit approval;
  • Periodic credit monitoring;
  • Application of internal leveraged lending policies and procedures;
  • Global leveraged lending related projects and strategic initiatives.

As a Credit / Finance Underwriter, you will be responsible for:

  • Drive the credit approval process of fast-paced and complex leveraged buyouts working in tandem with Capital Markets, Banking, and Risk.
  • Analyze underlying business rationale/strategy for deals that are conducted through creating both Business and portfolio reviews for Senior Management on the global risks for the portfolio as well as to highlight key trends in the market.
  • Research and develop a robust understanding of the fundamentals of the key industry trends and risk issues and develop the ability to succinctly convey thoughts and opinions to Risk Managers and Bankers.
  • Responsible for monitoring news and events pertaining to Citi's leveraged lending clients as well as providing regular updates to Bankers.
Qualifications, Experience and Education:
  • Experience of credit analysis, due diligence, underwriting, origination or corporate banking related transactions, ideally within Leveraged Finance.
  • Strong writing, analytical, quantitative communication, and presentation skills.
  • Leadership skills and experience in coaching and mentoring Analysts.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to break down large amounts of data into concise, easy to understand formats.
  • Previous credit or related leveraged finance experience.
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
