About the Role

The Privacy Legal team at Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Data Privacy Counsel to join our global team of legal and privacy professionals. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in driving our consumer-first global privacy strategy and ensuring compliance with privacy and data-related legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise business and technology stakeholders on consumer and employee privacy and information security issues, including compliance with Europe's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ePrivacy Directive, and other privacy laws in the EMEA, APAC, and LatAm regions.
  • Partner with teams across WBD Legal, Technology, and business teams in the EMEA and APAC region to work on global projects and support the development of data protection policies and procedures.
  • Support the Counsel, International Privacy in responding to individual rights request issues, privacy activist and consumer complaints, and providing legal advice to key Tech stakeholders and CS teams on operating individual rights processes and systems.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining consumer and workforce privacy policies, responding to data security incidents, and developing and delivering data protection training to WBD employees and group companies.
  • Conduct legal analysis and research on data privacy laws around the world and maintain legal know-how, create and comment on drafts of legal documentation, and support the completion of data protection impact assessments and other internal compliance documentation.

Requirements

  • Must be qualified as a UK solicitor or equivalent European legal practice qualification.
  • Preferably law firm experience, but could be in-house provided you have undergone rigorous training.
  • Excellent negotiation, contract, and other formal document drafting skills.
  • Strong advisory skills in consumer and/or employee data privacy, digital advertising, marketing, consumer protection, and other related topics.
  • Familiarity with ad tech, data governance, and information security a plus.
  • Knowledge of IP, commercial contract, and adjacent legal experience desirable.

Warner Bros. Discovery offers a hybrid work model, combining remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
