Job Summary

The St George's Hospital Auditory Implant Service (AIS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Audiologist to lead the delivery and development of our specialized auditory implant services. As a senior member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a high-quality clinical service for patients with complex needs, including those with cochlear implants, bone conduction hearing implants, and middle ear implants.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Manage a caseload of patients with complex auditory implant needs, including diagnostic assessments, multidisciplinary team meetings, and post-operative rehabilitation.
  • Develop and implement new pathways and protocols for service development and improvement.
  • Work closely with the ENT surgeons, Audiovestibular Physician, Implant audiologists, speech and language therapists, and teachers of the Hearing Impaired to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical audit and research initiatives, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and service efficiency.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A strong background in audiology practice, with experience in adult and paediatric diagnostic assessments and rehabilitation.
  • Competence in fitting a variety of NHS hearing aids for adults and paediatric patients.
  • Interest and aptitude in clinical audit and research, with a focus on service development and leadership.
  • UK registration with the RCCP/HCPC.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

The following qualifications and experience are highly desirable:

  • Experience working in cochlear implants, bone conduction hearing implants, and middle ear implants.
  • Management experience, with a focus on service development and leadership.
  • Research experience in national-level studies or NHS clinical trials.
