Join Our Team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer

Progressive Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to an innovative leader in Defence Technology.

Our client is in search of a professional with a strong background in mechanical engineering, encompassing the entire design process from initial concept to production. Candidates should possess in-depth knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), including machining, fabrication, and injection moulding techniques, as well as proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and R&D prototyping, including 3D printing.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Engineer:
  • Design and develop new products from concept through to production using SolidWorks or comparable software.
  • Create comprehensive engineering drawings in accordance with BS8888 standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, industrial designers, and project managers.
  • Assist in prototype development by liaising closely with suppliers during the manufacturing phase.

Qualifications & Skills Required for the Senior Mechanical Engineer Role:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
  • Experience with BS8888 standards is advantageous, particularly in projects requiring adherence to British Standards Institution technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in GD&T is required, with the ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints and specifications.
  • Knowledge of DFM principles is crucial, particularly in understanding how design choices impact manufacturability, assembly methods, materials, and tolerance stacks.
  • Familiarity with New Product Development (NPD) and sustaining processes will enhance the application of potential candidates.

Salary & Benefits for the Senior Mechanical Engineer:
