We are seeking a highly skilled Gardens and Estate Manager to join the team at Leeds Castle, responsible for the maintenance and development of our Grade II* listed parkland, formal and woodland gardens, farmland, and estate woodland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out work in line with historical precedent and ensuring that the grounds and gardens are maintained to the highest presentation standards.

The role involves researching and planning new projects, working collaboratively with colleagues to develop existing gardens, and delivering a new kitchen garden project that encompasses planting, operational approach, and audience outreach/volunteering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the maintenance and development of the gardens and estate
  • Collaborate with colleagues to research and plan new projects, including the development of existing gardens and the creation of a new kitchen garden
  • Ensure that the grounds and gardens are maintained to the highest presentation standards, in line with historical precedent
  • Develop and implement an operational approach for the gardens and estate, including planting and audience outreach/volunteering

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in gardens and estate management, with a strong understanding of historical precedent and presentation standards
  • Excellent research and planning skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the maintenance and development of the gardens and estate
