Position Overview

Role Summary:
Under guidance, the technician will engage in electrical diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on machinery in accordance with manufacturer specifications, schematics, and technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts basic to intermediate troubleshooting and maintenance tasks. This encompasses, but is not limited to: fine-tuning operational components of machinery and control systems to optimize performance; mending or substituting faulty components; refurbishing or fixing machine tools.
  2. Determines necessary parts, materials, and repair supplies.
  3. Offers assistance and support to fellow team members as directed by management.
  4. Maintains awareness of industry maintenance standards.
  5. Ensures adherence to 5S principles and cleanliness protocols.
  6. Participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives - focusing on processes, outcomes, and cost efficiencies.
  7. May be tasked with setting up and operating basic machining equipment, including but not limited to: lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking machinery for part fabrication and repair. Basic welding tasks may also be required.
  8. Updates maintenance records and reviews Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) history.
  9. Performs fundamental troubleshooting of control systems and circuitry.
  10. Engages in self-directed technical training for professional growth.
  11. Adheres to all safety policies, regulations, and guidelines. Maintains situational awareness to identify unsafe practices and conditions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Associate's degree with a technical emphasis or 18 months of relevant experience in a general industrial setting, or successful completion of the ATS Technician Progression Program.
  • Comprehension of basic electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to perform repairs.
  • Proficient in the use of standard hand tools.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers for handling or feeling, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance at heights requiring ladders or lifts, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined areas, and communicate effectively. The employee may occasionally need to sit. Lifting and/or moving items over 50 pounds may be necessary. Close vision and color vision are regularly required. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and potential electrical hazards. Work is primarily conducted in a factory setting, which is typically very noisy. In this environment, exposure to hazardous materials and/or slippery surfaces may occur.
