Breakthrough YA Writing Opportunity

Curtis Brown Creative is offering a unique scholarship opportunity for emerging YA writers of colour. This fully funded scholarship will provide a talented writer with the chance to attend our three-month online Writing YA & Children's Fiction course, taught by award-winning author Catherine Johnson.
To be eligible, applicants must be writers of colour over the age of 18, with a low-income background and limited financial means. The scholarship is open to those who do not have the means to attend the course without financial assistance.
Applicants will be asked to submit the first 3,000 words of their novel, along with a synopsis of no more than a page. The submission material will be assessed for its potential and promise, and the decision will be made by the Curtis Brown Creative team.
The deadline for applications is Sunday 6th October, and applicants will be notified by Thursday 10th October. We encourage all eligible writers to apply, and look forward to discovering new talent.
Please note that applicants must not be currently represented by a literary agent, and must be able to demonstrate their financial need. We also require applicants to state that they found this opportunity via Creative Access.
