About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and career-driven candidate to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in the SEN Pathway. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain skills and experience while working towards a Level 3 qualification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and evaluation, and assist in implementation.
  • Assist in the delivery of lessons and interact with teachers and pupils as required.
  • Undertake agreed learning activities and teaching programmes, adjusting according to pupil responses.
  • Support and use ICT in learning activities and develop pupils' competence and independence in its use.
  • Support individuals or groups during independent work and group work.
  • Occasional support to whole class for short periods.
  • Help pupils develop communication skills and social interaction.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom, encourage them to interact and work co-operatively with others, and engage in all activities.
  • Support pupils consistently while recognising and responding to their individual needs.
  • Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance.
  • Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model, demonstrating positive values, attitudes, and behaviour, and setting high expectations.
  • Assist in the personal, social, emotional development of pupils and development of self-esteem.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of SEND/behaviour plans.
  • Using specialist skills/knowledge/training, provide support in specialist areas.
  • Encourage and reinforce positive interactions between pupils working within any targets set.
  • Assist with pupil intervention strategies following training, e.g. team teach.
  • Assist with lesson/activity planning, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Monitor individual/group achievements of key objectives and feedback to the teacher.
  • Contribute to pupil assessment through observation and reporting.
  • Record information relevant to assessment and review of pupil's progress.
  • Attend review meetings where relevant for individual pupils, including those connected to Education and Health plans.
  • Support implementation of strategies to manage pupil behaviour and help manage pupil behaviour.
  • Liaise with parents/carers, specialist teachers, and other professional staff, and share and provide information.
  • Monitor and provide for the care, safety, and welfare of pupils.
  • Provide personal/hygiene support to pupils as required by personal plans.

Qualifications

Maths and English at GCSE level A-C (4-9) desired. Previous experience working with early years or primary children desired.
