Job Description

Job Title: Senior Test and Qualification Engineer

Location: Plymouth or Bristol

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Test and Qualification Engineer to join our Engineering team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the development projects during the development phase, where products are passed through their formal qualification and approval phase prior to entry into production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing Impact of Changes: Evaluate the impact of changes and deviations on products to define the required qualification activities.
  • Project Delivery: Ensure projects are delivered to schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Planning and Estimation: Provide inputs to planning, estimation, and project management activities.
  • Bid and Proposal Support: Support bids and proposals by providing resourcing and technical compliance.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for internal and external customer-focused presentations, teleconferences, and meetings.
  • Liaison with Production and Test Houses: Liaise with production and test houses (internal and external) to book test slots.
  • Liaison with Logistics: Liaise with logistics to arrange for kit to be delivered and collected at external test facilities to support offsite testing.
  • Product Qualification Testing: Carry out product qualification testing (internal and external).
  • Customer Requirements: Understand customer requirements, generate qualification test plans, reports, and compliance tracking.
  • Travel: The role may include travel to UK and foreign customer sites to support technical meetings, trials, and qualification testing.

Requirements:

  • Education: A minimum of a 2.1 Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience working in an Engineering role on sensor-related product design and development to military, aerospace, and commercial standards.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MS Office tools, with good knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Good organization and communication skills. Capacity to manage several tasks or requests simultaneously. Ability to work collaboratively within a large team. Ability to work independently and prioritize workload.

  • Data Analysis: Ability to analyze and interpret data from various sources.
  • Technical Report Writing: Competent in technical report writing and presentations.
  • Team Player: A team player and effective communicator.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth technical knowledge of inertial measurement units (IMU).
  • Product Introduction Lifecycle: Experience of the product introduction lifecycle (concept definition to product launch).
  • Problem Solving: Problem-solving skills, including Root Cause Analysis.
  • Mathematical Modelling Tools: Experience with mathematical modelling tools (e.g. Matlab, Minitab).
