Key Responsibilities
- Streamline Payroll Processing: Administer payroll activities to ensure timely and accurate preparation, processing, and balancing, impacting the overall timeliness and accuracy of the payroll system.
- Year-End: Complete year-end processes accurately to ensure compliance with tax regulations and contribute to the financial integrity of the organization.
- Financial Reporting Accuracy: Review and prepare information for general ledger entries to enhance the reliability of financial reports associated with payroll.
- Maintain Accurate Payments: Correctly calculate payments and deductions to sustain employee trust and satisfaction, which is vital for the company's reputation.
- Tax Compliance: Properly calculate taxes and adhere to internal procedures to prevent costly penalties and ensure legal compliance.
- Resourceful Point of Contact: Serve as a resource for payroll inquiries to establish yourself as a knowledgeable expert, fostering internal and external relationships.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in projects and initiatives aimed at improving payroll processes to drive efficiency and innovation within the organization.
- Documentation Development: Support the creation and maintenance of payroll documentation to ensure consistency and clarity in payroll procedures for current and future staff.
Requirements
- Comprehensive Payroll Knowledge: Possess a deep understanding of UK payroll legislation, including statutory requirements like Maternity, Paternity, Adoption, SSP, PAYE, NI, and Court Orders, to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.
- Technical Skills: Be proficient in Excel, particularly with pivot tables and VLOOKUP, as well as familiar with Time Management, Payroll, and HR systems to manage data effectively and address complex payroll issues.
- Effective Communication: Develop and deliver communications that resonate with different audiences, ensuring clear understanding and engagement.
- Decision-Making and Process Optimization: Adopt a customer-focused approach to decision-making and commit to optimizing work processes for continuous improvement and efficiency.
Qualifications
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience required.
- Experience of using Time Management, Payroll, and HR systems.
