London, Greater London, United Kingdom Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a seasoned Clinical Psychologist to become a vital part of the North West London Infected Blood Psychology Service (IBPS) at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

This initiative has been established in response to the recommendations from the Infected Blood Inquiry report, which emphasized the necessity for a tailored psychological support service in England for individuals impacted by contaminated blood products. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the service's development by collaborating with regional teams and other providers across the country.

The selected candidate will join a newly formed team comprising psychologists and a social worker, integrated within the highly skilled and multidisciplinary team at the Katharine Dormandy Haemophilia Centre and Thrombosis Unit.

We are eager to welcome new members to our PTNC community, who embody our core values of collaboration and mutual support.

Main Responsibilities

This role is ideal for a Clinical Psychologist with a background in physical health environments, particularly those experienced in managing chronic health conditions. The position also suits professionals who have worked within multidisciplinary teams delivering trauma-informed care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert psychological assessments and interventions.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the service.
  • Supervising and managing other members of the psychosocial team.

As a clinician, you will be embedded within your clinical specialty while also being part of a larger group of over 40 professionals specializing in psychological therapies, neuropsychology, and counseling across various medical fields. These include Cancer & Palliative Care, Cardiology, Dermatology, Diabetes, Haemophilia, Hepatology, HIV, ICU, Immunology, Rare Disease, Nephrology, Neurology, Pain Management, Plastic Surgery, Respiratory Care, and Women's Health. Research initiatives are actively encouraged, with opportunities for collaborative work with colleagues. Regular supervision and professional development resources are readily available.

About the Organization

This position is situated within the Royal Free North West London Infected Blood Psychology Support (IBPS) service, which offers multidisciplinary care for individuals affected by contaminated blood products. The service conducts outreach and psychosocial assessments led by a social worker and provides psychological therapies through a dedicated team of practitioner psychologists. As the regional branch of the national IBPS, it operates within the Katharine Dormandy Haemophilia Centre and Thrombosis Unit, maintaining a distinct identity while closely collaborating with its Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).
