Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

This role is to provide locum consultant services to maintain and improve the capacity of the department addressing a deficit to services due to internal job plan restructuring and increased demand. The post holder will be expected to be part of the Head and Neck Oncology Multidisciplinary Team.
They will also be expected to provide training and supervision for junior medical staff and allied health professionals. Clinics and Theatre sessions are provided at the hospital as well as spoke sites.
Changes or additions to Job Plan commitments such as Multidisciplinary Team meetings in the region may be possible or required.
Main Duties of the JobThe postholder will be based at the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. It is essential that the applicant should be fully trained in all aspects of maxillofacial surgery.
The postholder will also be expected to participate in the service assisting colleagues with maxillofacial trauma. The Consultants in the department have continued to develop subspecialist interests and make cross referrals to each other where appropriate and the postholder will be expected to demonstrate skills that would complement and expand the existing skill mix in Head and Neck Oncology.

Person SpecificationQualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree at time of application
- Dental qualification registerable with the General Dental Council
- Successful completion of FRCS or equivalent at time of application
- Entry on the UK Specialist Register via: oCCT, or proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview date oCESR, or proposed CESR date must be within six months of interview date oEuropean Community Rights

- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in managing complex cases with experience in microvascular surgery
