Programme Manager Role


About the Opportunity

Capita is seeking an experienced Programme Manager to lead the planning, structuring, and direction of a divisional programme of work, a programme of interrelated projects, or a large project with major sub-projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Programme Planning and Delivery
    • Develop and implement programme plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure successful delivery of business benefits.
    • Lead the programme team in determining business requirements and translating requirements into operational plans.
    • Monitor and review programme economics, including programme costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, programme resources, and programme risk.
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead and motivate programme teams to achieve programme objectives.
    • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including programme sponsors, customers, and suppliers.
    • Ensure that programme management is informed by an awareness of current technical developments.
  • Business Benefits and Value
    • Ensure that programme is managed to realise business benefits and that programme management is informed by an awareness of current technical developments.
    • Accountable for the delivery of programme benefits.


Requirements

  • Experience and Qualifications
    • Strong programme management experience, preferably in a similar industry or sector.
    • Prince 2 certified or equivalent.
    • Core Infrastructure experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Proven project management and leadership skills.
    • Good knowledge of business analysis.
    • Principles, methods, techniques, and tools for the preparation and monitoring of budgets to minimise costs and ensure cost-effectiveness.
    • Principles, methods, techniques, and tools for the effective management of a programme of projects and related activities through to the successful achievement of planned business benefits.
    • Experience of delivering infrastructure and cloud projects.
    • Broadly skilled in information technology, with a good understanding of desktop, hardware, printers, LAN, and WAN.
    • Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling programmes.
    • Business case development and approvals skills.
    • Understanding of the procurement process, including negotiation with third parties.
    • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
    • Sufficient seniority and credibility to advise project teams on their projects in relation to the programme.
    • Ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Project.
    • Knowledge of programme and project management methods, including MSP, PRINCE2, and Agile.
    • Effective leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams.
