Job Overview

The role involves supporting the seamless preparation and delivery of meals and beverages to patients, staff, and visitors, while also undertaking necessary cleaning and hygiene tasks. It is crucial to prioritize Food Safety and adhere strictly to all relevant regulations and departmental protocols at all times.

Key Responsibilities

o Assist in food preparation in compliance with food safety regulations and departmental guidelines

o Execute daily cleaning tasks as per established cleaning schedules to meet regulatory standards

o Conduct regular checks and maintain daily audit records related to safety, cleanliness, and food hygiene

o Familiarize oneself with and contribute to the security of the department and its assets

o Report any equipment malfunctions to ensure prompt corrective actions are taken

o Address requests for additional or out-of-hours food services for patients and dining areas

o Serve meals to customers in dining spaces

o Operate electronic cash registers and manage cash transactions

About QE Facilities

QE Facilities (QEF) operates as a subsidiary of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT) in the North East of England, providing a variety of non-clinical services to GHNT and other NHS entities. Our offerings encompass estates management, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering, endoscopy decontamination, sterile services, transport, outpatient pharmacy, and training in the prevention and management of violence and aggression (PMVA).

We also offer consultancy services, guiding clients on establishing subsidiary companies within NHS frameworks and providing VAT compliance advice.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities Include:

- Food preparation in accordance with food safety regulations

- Daily cleaning duties following established schedules

- Regular audits of safety, cleanliness, and food hygiene

- Security awareness and assistance within the department

- Reporting of equipment issues for timely resolution

- Catering to additional food requests for patients and dining areas

- Serving food to customers in dining areas

- Handling cash transactions via electronic registers

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

Essential:

Basic numeracy and literacy skills

Desirable:

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate

Experience

Desirable:

Experience in a large-scale catering environment

Knowledge

Essential:

Strong personal organization and time management skills Effective teamwork and collaboration, including multidisciplinary relationships Ability to work independently or as part of a team Professional and supportive interactions with patients and clients

Desirable:

Understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements for a safe and healthy environment, including HACCP, COSHH, and food safety protocols Familiarity with cleaning procedures and protocols Knowledge of food allergens to ensure customer safety Awareness of food quality and service standards
