Overview of the Role

An exceptional opportunity awaits at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for a passionate individual to become part of the NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service as an Adolescent Support Specialist.

The Adolescent Support Specialist will be instrumental in delivering assistance to young individuals and their families within the service, overseeing intricate cases to guarantee the most effective care pathway is developed.

Candidates for this position should possess a background in youth support, nursing, social work, education, or health play specialization. A strong focus is placed on qualifications in child protection, as well as Honours and Masters degrees, alongside several years of experience working with children and families.

This is a part-time role that demands outstanding organizational and communication skills, along with a dedication to continuous learning and professional development in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Offer support to children and young people exploring their gender identity
  • Ensure emotional well-being and foster a secure environment for young individuals and their families
  • Enhance awareness of youth services and their advantages both internally and externally
Essential Qualifications
  • Proven understanding and appreciation of diversity and inclusion
  • Professional qualification in Youth Support, Nursing, Social Work, Education, or Health Play
  • Extensive experience in working with children and families, including operational management
  • Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection protocols
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in engaging with gender-questioning children or young people
  • Completion or pursuit of a relevant Masters degree
