About the Role

The Southbank Centre is seeking a skilled Video Editor to join our Digital Engagement team on a part-time, 24 hours per week, 9-month fixed term basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Video Producers and other team members to understand video requirements, objectives, and briefs for each project.
  • Edit raw footage into polished and visually compelling videos using Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Create cut-downs of existing material (including live performance footage and archive material) for use across different platforms and formats.
  • Incorporate pre-defined motion graphics to enhance video content and storytelling.
  • Select and edit music tracks, sound effects, and voice-overs to enhance the overall impact and emotional resonance of the videos.
  • Colour grade and correct video footage to achieve desired visual aesthetics and maintain a consistent look and feel across videos.
  • Own the project post-production process, working closely with the rest of the team to hit deadlines for key milestones.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new editing techniques, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the quality and impact of our video content.
  • Organise and maintain an efficient video editing workflow, including file management, backups, and project organisation.
  • Ensure videos are optimised for various platforms and formats, adhering to best practices and technical specifications.
  • Assist in creating and updating video templates and assets to streamline the editing process and maintain a consistent visual identity.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the role that diversity and inclusion play in the activities of the Southbank Centre as a whole and in the work of this particular job.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience as a Video Editor, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in video editing and motion graphics.
  • Able to demonstrate experience editing short form videos solely for social media channels.
  • Able to demonstrate experience editing long form video for editorial or film.
  • Proficiency in using video editing software, particularly Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, with a solid understanding of editing techniques, colour grading, and audio mixing.
  • Experience of applying motion graphics and simple visual effects.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quick-turnaround of assets and multi-format renders.
  • Knowledge of video formats, compression, and optimisation techniques for various platforms.
  • Familiarity with file organisation, backup strategies, and maintaining an efficient video editing workflow.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to brand guidelines.
  • Demonstrable time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously to deliver to schedule.
  • Demonstrable communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and receive constructive feedback.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the role that diversity and inclusion play in the activities of the Southbank Centre as a whole and in the work of this particular job.
