About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Haematologist to join our dynamic team at North Bristol NHS Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to patients with blood disorders in the South West.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to high-quality, evidence-based services for inpatients, outpatients, and day care, providing specialist advice and a referral service for other clinicians in the Trust.
  • Undertake administrative duties associated with the care of patients and the running of clinics or departments.
  • Help provide triaging/vetting of referrals and advice and guidance to local GPs.
  • Participate in the consultant on-call rota and provide cover for colleagues in time of absence and leave when required.
  • Leadership, development, and organisation of the services in the charge of the post holder in line with the Trust/Divisional business plans.
Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant Haematologist with a broad knowledge of Haematology and a strong track record of delivering high-quality patient care. Essential criteria include:

  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register with UK CCT in Haematology (or equivalent training & experience) or eligible for registration within 6 months of interview.

Desirable criteria include a higher academic qualification (e.g. MSc, PhD) and experience in a similar role.

We provide services for the local population of 500,000 and support regional or supraregional services for some subspecialties in NBT, including diagnostic services in the Bristol Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic Service SIHMDS.
