Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Manager to join our team at Sir Robert McAlpine. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting our sustainability ambitions and ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

About the Role

The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for managing the delivery of our sustainability strategy and client requirements on projects within the London Region. This will involve working closely with our Regional Sustainability Manager and construction project teams to ensure that our Environmental Management System (EMS) is implemented on projects from tender stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies to reduce carbon emissions and waste on projects
  • Ensure that procurement documentation reflects project sustainability requirements
  • Conduct regular site surveillances and audits to ensure compliance with legislation
  • Manage projects to achieve environmental assessments and certifications (e.g., BREEAM, LEED)
  • Report project performance against Build Sure and client requirements
  • Review project performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Communicate sustainability strategy and achievements to stakeholders
  • Identify and communicate best practices across the business unit
  • Deliver training on environmental management and sustainability for project staff and supply chain

Requirements

  • Experience in a construction environmental or sustainability role
  • Qualifications or strong knowledge of environmental assessment methods (BREEAM, LEED, HQM)
  • Technical expertise in sustainability and environmental management
