Job Title: Postgraduate Research Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Postgraduate Research Administrator to join our team at the Association for Art History. The successful candidate will have a strong background in art history and research, with excellent organizational and communication skills.

About the Role

The Postgraduate Research Administrator will be responsible for supporting the research of our 8000-strong collection as part of our ambitious 'Mapping the Collection' project. This project aims to chart the acquisition history of the Arts Council Collection from 1946 to the present. The successful candidate will work closely with our team to document the evolving Arts Council Collection acquisitions committee, chart the works that were collected, and map these acquisitions against social, cultural, and art historical trends.

Main Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze research data through various methods, such as archival work, literature reviews, and research interviews.
  • Present research outputs (in writing and orally), ensuring full and accurate references are included.
  • Engage in review and feedback processes.
  • Overcome problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines.
  • Plan and manage their own research and administrative activities efficiently and timely.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate Degree (MA) or equivalent in relevant subject area: History of Art / Museum Studies / Archives or Records Management.
  • Experience of a wide range of record and management work in a museum, library, or archive, particularly with artistic materials.
  • Practical experience of applying relevant skills and techniques, particularly with knowledge and experience of working with archival material and/or collection management.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £7,200 for a 6-month contract, with the possibility of remote or hybrid working. The role will be based mainly at the Southbank Centre, London, with possible research trips to Longside.
