Position Overview

The Cardiff & Vale Audiology team is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Lead Pediatric Audiology Specialist at a prominent children's healthcare facility. This position is ideal for a professional with a strong background in pediatric audiology, particularly in conducting newborn hearing assessments in accordance with established guidelines. Key responsibilities include managing clinics for young patients and those with intricate needs, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with the South Wales Auditory Implant team. As a senior member of the pediatric audiology team, the role will also encompass leadership and administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will possess advanced skills in electrophysiology and auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing for neonates, alongside a comprehensive understanding of newborn hearing screening protocols. Responsibilities will include:

  • Fitting and adjusting digital hearing aids
  • Diagnosing hearing impairments
  • Creating tailored management strategies for patients

Preferred qualifications include a Master's level education in pediatrics or equivalent professional experience. The role will also involve contributions to service enhancement and quality audits.

Proficiency in the Welsh language is considered beneficial; applications from both English and Welsh speakers are encouraged.

  • MSc in Audiological Science or equivalent knowledge
  • Post-MSc professional training or equivalent (for HCPC registration as a clinical scientist)
  • HCPC registration as Clinical Scientist (Audiology), RCCP registration as Audiologist, or AHCS registration

Desirable

  • Membership in relevant special interest groups
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and post-registration activities
  • Completion of Newborn ABR training

  • Extensive experience as a Clinical Specialist Audiologist, including STP training
