Lead Clinical Pharmacist
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is a prominent healthcare organization in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 individuals across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including acute hospital care, primary care, community health, and mental health services to a diverse population exceeding 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million when considering our regional and national services.
As part of our commitment to enhancing work-life balance, NHS Scotland is transitioning to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours, effective from April 2024, with no alteration in remuneration. This change will also apply proportionately to part-time staff. Please note that while we aim to implement this new schedule across all service areas, some may require temporary adjustments, necessitating up to an additional 30 minutes of work per week until full compliance is achieved.
This pivotal role involves collaboration with General Practitioners (GPs) and multidisciplinary teams in primary care to enhance medication management and ensure outstanding patient care. The position entails delivering pharmacotherapy services as part of the GP contract, playing a crucial role in supporting patients with their medication needs. As a patient-facing position, you will take on prescribing responsibilities and develop your own clinical caseload aligned with the objectives of the Achieving Excellence strategy.
As a member of the East Dunbartonshire Pharmacy team, your primary goal will be to elevate the quality and cost-effectiveness of prescribing and medication use for patients within the East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). You will collaborate closely with GPs, practice staff, community pharmacists, care home personnel, and other healthcare professionals to foster the development and implementation of high-quality, safe, and evidence-based prescribing practices. Your role will involve working within GP practices, care homes, and various healthcare settings to provide tailored clinical care to patients, enhancing the safety and efficacy of their medications, and prescribing when appropriate.
To be considered for this role, you must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development. A minimum of two years of post-registration experience is required, along with the ability to travel between GP practices and care homes to fulfill the responsibilities of this position. Experience in collaborating with primary care teams and familiarity with GP systems will be advantageous. This position also necessitates PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
- Registrant with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Independent prescriber or commitment to pursuing this qualification
- Minimum of 2 years' post-registration experience
