This may include urgent 'blue light' deliveries in critical situations.

In this position, you will need to adhere to strict deadlines and possess experience in managing public interactions with a high level of professionalism. The role requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, nights, and public holidays. You will receive comprehensive training, ongoing support, and opportunities for career advancement, along with a provided uniform.

Joining our organization entails participating in an extensive induction and training program, with continuous evaluation and development to support your role and career growth.

Key Responsibilities

As an integral member of our team, your main responsibility will be operating our fleet of vehicles for the transportation of blood and related products and equipment. This includes maintaining vehicle security and performing routine inspections. Your primary duties will include:

  • Driving a variety of vehicles, with a maximum weight of 7.5 tonnes, except in specific cases where 3.5-tonne vehicles will be employed
  • Utilizing digital tools for documentation and completing necessary forms
  • Managing the loading, unloading, and arrangement of equipment, including heavy items weighing up to 20 kgs, with or without assistance
  • Occasionally executing emergency 'Blue Light' deliveries after receiving the necessary training

Employing your customer service abilities to ensure a positive experience for our team members, donors, healthcare staff, and the general public.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in professional driving or a demonstration of driving skills
  • Competence in using technological devices and standard software applications
  • Strong understanding of local geography and road networks
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures

Licenses and Training

  • Holding a valid UK driving license with a maximum of 6 penalty points, subject to DVLA verification
  • Preferably possessing a C1 driving license, while a B license is essential for this role
  • Ability to meet NHSBT's minimum driving standards, which will be assessed during the interview process
