About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Garden Centre Manager to join our team at MorePeople. As a key member of our management team, you will play a pivotal role in the smooth operation and continued success of our garden centre.

As a Deputy Garden Centre Manager, you will work closely with the Garden Centre Manager to ensure that our customers receive outstanding service and that our staff are motivated and productive. You will be responsible for leading and inspiring a team in a fast-paced environment, driving sales and profitability, and contributing to the overall success of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of retail staff to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve sales targets
  • Work closely with the Garden Centre Manager to develop and implement business strategies and plans
  • Monitor and control stock levels, manage inventory, and maintain a high level of visual merchandising
  • Develop and implement sales promotions and marketing initiatives to drive sales and customer engagement
  • Manage and control budgets, including staff costs, stock, and overheads
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and maintain a safe and healthy working environment
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a retail management role, preferably in a garden centre or similar environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a proactive approach to delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Good organisational and multitasking abilities, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • A passion for plants and gardening, with a strong knowledge of horticulture and gardening products
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and be available for on-call duties
  • A commercial mindset, with the ability to drive sales and profitability, and contribute to the overall success of the business
