Logistics Operations Manager

Location: Normanton

Shift: Monday to Friday

Hours: 42.5 hours per week, 08:00 – 17:00

Menzies Distribution Limited is in search of a skilled and driven Logistics Operations Manager to oversee and enhance an efficient operational workflow. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy of inventory management and data entry while adhering to all operational protocols and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will possess the capability to implement improvements and effectively manage change.

The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding all legal and regulatory obligations, ensuring that the highest health and safety standards are consistently maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engaging with clients, suppliers, and transportation teams; organizing, coordinating, and supervising the receipt, assembly, and dispatch of products.
  • Utilizing space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently to meet quality and budgetary goals.
  • Overseeing the use of automated and computerized systems as required.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with the company's health and safety policies.
  • Ensuring effective environmental control measures are implemented and monitored.
  • Managing and controlling operational costs effectively.
  • Leading, supporting, and developing the operational team through continuous improvement and proactive communication.
  • Fostering a collaborative and people-focused team environment.
  • Upholding the highest health and safety standards, ensuring all training and inductions are completed and documented.
  • Ensuring compliance with the business's key operational standards.
  • Establishing, monitoring, and maintaining agreed performance metrics for all warehouse activities.
  • Building and nurturing effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and enhancing operational practices in line with established procedures.
  • Planning and managing daily operations and special projects through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicating effectively within the organization through the preparation of reports and KPI data.
  • Ensuring the efficient delivery and execution of all operational requirements.
  • Facilitating regular operational meetings with staff to communicate consistent objectives and performance metrics.
  • Working towards KPIs and objectives established with clients, considering any special projects or initiatives.

  • Previous experience in a managerial position within a warehouse environment.
  • Exceptional people management abilities, with a talent for motivating and inspiring a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proficient in warehouse management systems and relevant software applications.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Confidence, tact, and persuasive communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with a diverse range of colleagues and clients.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate proactivity.
