Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Laser DEW Effects Tools and Simulation Engineer to join our team at The Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining tools and simulations for our Laser Directed Energy Warfare (LDEW) system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain tools and simulations for LDEW system
- Apply and augment toolsets and simulations for immediate and applied use on the Dragonfire MDC programme
- Lead tasks and work packages, interacting across the project and leading a small team to deliver
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Develop and maintain complex simulations written in Simulink or similar environment
- Represent nuanced system behaviour including embedded code, firmware and processes within time-based simulation methods
- Build semi-empirical toolsets using both test and experimental data and (sometimes emergent) theory
- Simplify and codify complex system interactions
- Manage and deliver a network of interconnected product releases
- Lead and manage a small team to deliver projects on time, cost and quality
Requirements:
- Experience in the development of tools, simulations or algorithms in MATLAB or similar toolsets
- Proven track record in delivering, or, proving and testing complex simulations written in Simulink or similar environment
- Understanding of Object-Oriented MATLAB or similar toolset
- Understanding of how to build semi-empirical toolsets using both test and experimental data and (sometimes emergent) theory
- Ability to simplify and codify complex system interactions
- Sound understanding of version control principles, and the ability to implement them
- Ability to manage budgets within a team environment
- DV cleared
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with Ansys Fluent, COMSOL or similar Multiphysics tool
- Complex system design in a deeply technical environment
