About the Role:

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Manage the payroll function, overseeing the calculation and balancing of all payrolls, including gross to net and all pay items and deductions.
  • Lead the team responsible for monthly payroll, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to HMRC.
  • Implement and manage pay increases in line with annual salary reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with FPS, EPS, and P46 submissions to HMRC, avoiding penalties.
  • Develop and maintain all pay items in the payroll system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage National Minimum Wage and Gender Pay Reporting requirements.
  • Handle complex employee inquiries related to pay, tax, company car tax, and benefits.
  • Oversee Salary Sacrifice Schemes, ensuring compliance and effectiveness.
  • Ensure all payroll records are GDPR compliant.
  • Lead the payroll audit process, providing accurate and timely information for payroll and pensions.
  • Develop and maintain effective governance of payroll activities.
  • Stay up-to-date with government legislation related to PAYE, NI, Pension, and Pension Schemes.
  • Create and maintain new payroll reports on an ad hoc basis.
  • Integrate payroll costing into finance, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Implement new payroll processes, ensuring seamless integration.

**Qualifications and Skills:**

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Flexible and able to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience in a lead payroll role.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to work independently.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong relationships with stakeholders, including managers and employees.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and work under pressure with changing priorities.
  • High levels of accuracy, attention to detail, and accountability.
  • Preferably experience with system implementation and improvement.
