Role Purpose

The BBC iPlayer is a cherished brand in the UK, and we seek a passionate Senior Tester to join our engineering teams. Your role will focus on delivering high-quality TV platform experiences to millions of users daily. Your attention to detail will ensure software quality, and your collaborative spirit will help elevate our testing practices.

As a Senior Tester, you will engage in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), collaborating closely with various teams to advocate for audience needs throughout the delivery process. You will lead testing efforts for complex projects and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and mentoring within the testing community.

Main Responsibilities

  • Define and execute testing strategies that address complex product requirements
  • Enhance team methodologies for software development
  • Mentor and coach fellow testers to build expertise within the department
  • Drive improvements in testing processes through innovative experimentation
  • Collaborate with test leadership to implement effective test strategies
  • Engage with the broader testing community to share and gain knowledge
  • Contribute to the development of test automation frameworks and delivery pipelines
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage through both automated and manual testing
  • Manage defect resolution for projects, including analysis and troubleshooting
  • Oversee test environment and data requirements for testing initiatives
  • Engage in exploratory testing to support new features

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Self-motivated with a proactive and inquisitive approach
  • An excellent communicator with strong leadership skills
  • Experienced in testing web, mobile, and TV platforms
  • Knowledgeable in non-functional testing aspects, including performance and accessibility
  • Familiar with cloud technologies and CI/CD tools
  • Comfortable working in Agile environments
  • Experienced in API testing and proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript
