This is a newly defined position within Howett Thorpe, focusing on transforming the finance function to meet the needs of the multi-academy Trust. The successful candidate will lead and deliver a new operational model, ensuring robust internal controls and statutory reporting requirements are met.

The role involves working closely with various stakeholders across the academy to implement an updated finance model, providing up-to-date information and analysis on budget vs variance on spend. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, with experience in budget management and ongoing financial planning and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a new finance operational model
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective financial planning and analysis
  • Design and implement a data source for budget holders, providing real-time information on budget vs variance on spend
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements

Requirements:

  • Qualified finance professional, ideally ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent
  • Experience of budget management and ongoing financial planning and analysis
  • Ability to manage a project, including process mapping
  • Advantageous to have experience working within the education or academic sector
