Job Title: Senior Principal Consultant

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal Consultant to join our team at The Skills Coalition. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial part in shaping the future of nature sustainability for the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project delivery: You will be responsible for managing and delivering multiple complex projects, ensuring timely delivery, and meeting the required level of quality and technical substance.
  • Project Management: You will lead technical design, assessments, and environmental and social due diligence for large complex projects across mining infrastructure and agriculture sectors.
  • Strategy and business development: You will develop strategic and innovative proposals of work with new or existing clients, expand the business through networking and relationship building, and elevate our visibility as a trusted brand for the mining sector.
  • Innovation and communication: You will public speak on behalf of The Skills Coalition, write and review material for scientific and business press, and work with senior staff to develop approaches, metrics, and tools for assessing and mitigating biodiversity impacts.
  • Team management: You will provide technical leadership, line management of junior consultants, and support their professional development.

Requirements:

  • At least ten years of relevant experience in development projects with a focus on mining.
  • Experience of applying lender requirements, particularly International Finance Corporation's Performance Standard 6, to development projects in emerging economies in extractives and/or agribusiness sectors.
  • Solid consultancy experience, excellent writing and verbal communication skills, and sufficient GIS skills to design and evaluate analyses.
  • Good track record of business development and client relationship management, and a good Honours degree in a relevant discipline.

Desirable attributes:

  • A background as a field conservation specialist, experience of reviewing work and providing QAQC, and proven ability to work in French or Spanish.
  • Experience of supervising or managing individuals and/or small teams, a postgraduate qualification or a PhD in a relevant discipline, and experience working in Africa, Latin America, or Asia.
