We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the management of the ward, ensuring high standards of care are maintained using available resources.
- Act as team leader in the supervision of the professional work of nursing staff at Band 5 and below, exercising good leadership and control.
- Work as part of the larger multi-professional team within the Children's Hospital, ensuring professional and sound communication when liaising around management of admissions and discharges.
- Take charge of the unit, ensuring safe and appropriate allocation of staff to reflect the clinical demand.
- Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
- Registered nurse on the appropriate part of the register
- Significant post-registration experience/qualification/training, including experience and knowledge within the relevant speciality
- Ward management experience
- Knowledge of current issues within acute healthcare
- Experience in an acute hospital setting
- Ability to demonstrate clinical decision-making and judgement
- Commitment to the post and Care Group responsibilities
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Experience in handling adverse events and complaints
- Appraisal skills
- Ability to act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners
- Some insight into budget management
