As the services at Solihull Hospital grow, we are excited to welcome applications for the role of Clinical Pharmacy Technician.
This is a pivotal moment for our organization, as the new elective hub is set to facilitate an additional 11,500 surgical procedures annually, alongside the introduction of a new surgical ward and the expansion of our support services.
In the capacity of a Clinical Pharmacy Technician, your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional clinical care through a safe and effective medicines optimization service. This role will require you to collaborate closely with the Clinical Pharmacy team, effectively linking Pharmacy with clinical departments.
Success in this position will involve establishing strong relationships with the multidisciplinary team, serving as a vital communication conduit. You will also be responsible for educating patients at the ward level about their medications, enhancing their understanding of treatment regimens and the significance of adherence.

The team is prepared to interview GPhC registered Pharmacy Technicians and has two vacancies available:
- 1 full-time position
- 1 part-time position (working Monday to Wednesday)

Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications:
- Professional Registration with the GPhC.
- Dispensing Accuracy Accreditation (West Midlands scheme or equivalent).
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
- Accredited Checking Technician (National Framework) or equivalent.
- One of the following:
- Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science and Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills
- Equivalent as defined by the General Pharmaceutical Council
Desirable Qualifications:
- Accredited Checking Technician (National Framework)
Essential Experience:
- Two years of work experience in Pharmacy pre-qualification.
- Currently practicing as a band 4 pharmacy technician or equivalent with post-qualification experience in an acute setting.
- Ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and relevant practical experience for the role.
- Significant experience in a pharmacy environment.
- Experience in the specialist function for the area of responsibility.
- Experience in organizing the workload of other staff members.
- Familiarity with policies and procedures.
- Significant experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
- Understanding of Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
- Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work and COSHH.
- Understanding of dispensing, stock control, supply, and related systems and processes.
- Knowledge of customer care practices and policies.
- Awareness of medicines, their side effects, and information sources.
- Knowledge of relevant practices, policies, and procedures.
- Understanding of the need for cost-effective service delivery and practices to minimize waste.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience as a Clinical Pharmacy Technician or in a similar role.
- Deputizing for senior personnel and coordinating daily workflow, including staff management.
- Experience in establishing new working practices or procedures.
- Participation in training and mentoring staff.
- Understanding of the ward environment.
