Job Summary:

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and passionate Children's Support Worker to join our team in a residential children's service. As a Children's Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young people between the ages of 8-18 who present a range of emotional, behavioural, and complex interpersonal behavioural needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
  • Maintain a homely, friendly culture and environment in the homes.
  • Deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensure the safety of the students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system, and preferred method of communication.
  • Support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives.

Requirements:

  • NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People is desirable.
  • 1-year experience in a residential children's home environment is desirable.
  • A Full Driving Licence is essential as you may be required to transport the children from time to time.
  • Ability to work the shift pattern (8am-10pm plus sleep ins).
